Technology in Stage 4 provides opportunities for students to develop their skills in the use of a broad range of hand tools. Generally they will spend a semester in each of wood and metal technology areas to construct useful projects.
Currently in metalwork we are making a Pot Plant Bracket and either a Tea Light Holder or a Small Lantern out of steel and sheet metal, while in woodwork we make a Pokerwork Sign followed by a Small Cabinet with a door and drawer.
Safety is a key aspect of our instruction and each student is provided with an apron and hairnet if required.
Lessons in our computer laboratory focus on project based learning activities relating to tools, Australian Inventions and Designers and computer drawing in Google Sketch Up and Adobe Illustrator. Once students have mastered Illustrator they draw up a name tag that they can manufacture on the Laser Cutter.
