Personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) focuses on encouraging students to think critically, solve problems and make informed decisions related to health, safety, wellbeing and physical activity. At Pennant Hills High School, we encourage student learning in PDHPE within supportive learning environments which fosters a love of lifelong learning.
Prospective students can expect to have opportunities to participate in school carnivals showcasing the Penno spirit whilst contributing to the camaraderie in sport houses Bellamy, Red Gum, Greenway and Yarrara.
Representative sport opportunities contribute to and build spirit, sportsmanship and fair play characteristics which is an underlying ethos at Pennant Hills High School. Our students form meaningful bonds with their teammates which contributes to a positive learning environment and reinforces the schools’ core values of Responsibility Integrity Achievement. Quality physical education and school sport programs offer the best opportunity to foster the development of physical literacy for all young people.
Purposeful learning is the pillar of PDHPE lessons. Quality teaching and learning programs are developed in consultation with the greater school community to ensure our students are challenged, engaged and connected to promote confident 21st century learners encompassing a strong connection to their local community.
Student wellbeing is a priority at Pennant Hills High School and is embedded throughout all PDHPE programs and activities. Including students in the decision-making process allows for student voice to develop advocacy skills and contributes to deeper knowledge and understanding of key concepts. As a result, students develop key competencies such as critical thinking and problem-solving skills to overcome challenges and issues facing young people.
Nil Nisi Bonum translates to nothing but the best which is fitting as Pennant Hills High School strives to achieve excellence in student learning and achievement by giving it their best in a well-supported environment. There is an underlying inclusive spirit which reinforces the build each other up mentality.
