School events bring learning to life and help shape our school culture. Throughout the year, Pennant Hills High School holds a range of events that help students build confidence, connect with others and celebrate their progress.
Some of the events held at our school include:

National Reconciliation Week
National Reconciliation Week under the theme of “All in
for Reconciliation” was celebrated last week with an assembly and a morning tea held for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their families. It
provided an opportunity to continue to build
relationships and share understanding between the
broader Australian community and Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander peoples and to focus on how we might create a more just, equitable and reconciled
country for all.
Principals Commendation
The first Principal’s Commendation Morning Tea for the year celebrated the outstanding achievements of Year 12 students. Joined by their families, students were recognised for their academic excellence, diligence, resilience and perseverance as they progress through their HSC year. The event acknowledged their commitment to learning and their dedication to achieving personal success across a range of subjects.
Call It Out Incursion
Students in Years 8, 10 and 11 participated in the Call It Out – Consent workshop, an engaging theatre-in-education program that supports the school's wellbeing and respectful relationships initiatives. Through interactive performances and follow-up workshops, students explored topics including affirmative consent, respectful relationships, gender equality, online safety and active bystander behaviour. The program encouraged students to develop the knowledge, communication skills and confidence needed to build safe, inclusive and respectful relationships and make informed decisions in a range of social contexts.
Archival Viewing of Fangirls
Year 11 and 12 Drama students attended a screening of the archival production of Fangirls by Yve Blake at Belvoir Street Theatre. The experience enhanced students’ understanding of contemporary Australian theatre practice, providing valuable insights into staging, performance and production choices. For Year 12 students, the excursion supported their HSC studies, while Year 11 students gained inspiration and practical ideas as they prepare to stage their own productions.
Duke of Edinburgh
Fifteen Year 10 students successfully completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Adventurous Journey, paddling from Wisemans Ferry to Brooklyn Bridge over three days. Throughout the expedition, students developed teamwork, leadership, resilience and outdoor recreation skills while navigating challenging conditions, planning daily activities and managing campsite responsibilities. Their cooperation, problem-solving and perseverance were evident throughout the journey, culminating in the successful completion of this significant milestone in the Duke of Edinburgh Award program.
Year 11 Biology Excursion
Year 11 Biology students visited the Bateau Bay rock platforms to conduct fieldwork investigating ecosystem dynamics and biodiversity in a coastal environment. Through firsthand observations and the use of scientific sampling techniques, students examined the relationships between organisms and their habitats, while analysing how abiotic factors influence species distribution. The excursion provided valuable opportunities to develop practical investigation, data analysis and scientific communication skills, supporting key course outcomes and preparing students for future assessment tasks.
Tocal Farm Excursion
Students from Years 9, 11 and 12 visited Tocal Farm near Paterson to gain firsthand insight into large-scale agricultural production and contemporary farm management practices. Through guided tours and hands-on learning experiences, students explored livestock production, sustainability, agricultural technologies, pest management, marketing processes and breeding programs. The excursion provided valuable real-world connections to classroom learning, enhancing students’ understanding of the diverse and evolving nature of the agricultural industry.
RYDA Road Safety Excursion
All Year 11 students attended the RYDA Road Safety Program at Sydney Olympic Park as part of their Year 11 Life Ready Program. Through interactive workshops led by police, driving instructors and community safety specialists, students developed their understanding of responsible road use, risk awareness and decision-making. The program provided valuable lifelong learning that will support students as current and future road users.
Chau Chak Museum Excursion
Year 11 Ancient History students visited the Chau Chak Wing Museum at the University of Sydney to enhance their understanding of the Cultural Role of Museums. Through hands-on analysis of artefacts dating back over 8,000 years, students applied historical inquiry skills while exploring museum preservation practices, ethical considerations and the interpretation of ancient cultures. The excursion provided valuable real-world connections to their classroom learning and future studies.
World's Greatest Shave
The Student Leadership Council demonstrated their commitment to community service by leading Pennant Hills High School’s participation in the World’s Greatest Shave. With staff and students volunteering to shave or colour their hair, the event brought the school community together in support of vital blood cancer research. Through their leadership, fundraising efforts and advocacy, students helped raise more than $21,000, fostering empathy, social responsibility and a strong sense of community while making a meaningful contribution to an important cause.
SLR Urban Surf Excursion
Year 11 and 12 Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation (SLR) students attended URBNSURF Park, where they developed practical surfing skills in a safe and controlled environment. Following a land-based coaching session, students applied their learning on ocean-like waves, building confidence, balance, coordination and water safety awareness. The experience encouraged resilience, teamwork and active participation while highlighting the physical, social and recreational benefits of engaging in lifelong physical activity.
Year 9 Defender Program
This leadership program is a collaborative initiative run between The Hills Police Area Command and our school, designed to empower influential Year 9 students to become positive agents of change within their school communities.
World Teachers Day
World Teachers' Day celebrates quality teaching and inspirational teachers.
There are over 170,000 primary, secondary and early childhood teachers working in NSW. The event is an opportunity to recognise all teachers.
Japanese Cherry
Mr Thai and Ms Wang took the Year 9 and 10 Japanese classes to the Cherry Blossom Festival at the Auburn Botanical Gardens.
Students braved the very wet and muddy weather and walked through the Sakura trail.
Annual Swimming Carnival
The Annual Swimming Carnival was a fantastic day of competition, participation and school spirit, bringing the entire school community together in an electric atmosphere of enthusiasm, encouragement and house pride. Students had the opportunity to showcase their skills, challenge themselves and celebrate the achievements of their peers, creating a strong sense of belonging and connection. A particular highlight was celebrating our Year 12 students in their final school swimming carnival, with their creative costumes and spirited participation adding colour, energy and tradition to the day. The event highlighted the joy of coming together as a whole school while fostering teamwork, resilience and active participation in a positive and inclusive environment.
Spirit Week 2025
Congratulations to the entire Student Leadership Council for a fantastic Spirit Week. You managed the weather well and brought the school together to understand the origins of Spirit Week and celebrate our sensational Penno Pride.
Congratulations and thank you to Mr Thai, Ms Graham and Mr Banyai for their outstanding coordination of this special week. Their hard work, creativity and dedication supported our students before, during and after each event making the week a memorable experience for all.
Excursions and Incursions
Our school uses School Bytes to manage all excursions and incursions. Parents and caregivers can view event details, provide consent online, and make payments (if required) conveniently through the platform. This ensures a simple, secure, and efficient process for all school activities.

Parent transport to school endorsed activities
There are often times when parent/caregiver transport is required to and from a school endorsed activity.
If a parent/caregiver is transporting another student, the driver must visit Public Reception and provide the office (once per calendar year) with the following:
- Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- Driver’s licence
- Vehicle registration
- CTP insurance
The parent of the student being transported must complete a student as a passenger - parent consent form prior to the activity.
Student drivers
Senior students wishing to drive themselves must obtain permission from both the Deputy Principal and their parent/caregiver. A student as a driver - parent consent form must be completed and returned to the school before the activity.
Please note: students are NOT permitted to transport other students.
Before driving to any school-endorsed activity, students must provide the office (once per calendar year, for each vehicle):
- A copy of their current driver’s licence (front only)
- Current vehicle registration
- Proof of vehicle insurance
